Elinor Batteries: Partners with Morlus Technology

  • Sector: Infrastructure
  • Date: August 29, 2024

Elinor Batteries has entered a strategic partnership with Morlus Technology, providing the company with access to groundbreaking battery technology and specialized production expertise. The aim is to establish a leading position in the European market for stationary energy storage while strengthening sustainability in the battery industry. “Collaboration with world-leading battery technologists is essential for realizing profitable battery production in Norway,” says Arne Fredrik Lånke, CEO of Elinor Batteries.

Behind Morlus Technology stands an experienced team led by Shen Xi, who brings over 20 years of experience in battery research and factory development, including time with BYD, the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer. Morlus has launched a dedicated product line for BESS and is building a fully automated production capacity of 10 GWh. This shared focus on green transition has led to a broad partnership between Elinor and Morlus, where product plans and production lines will be adapted for the European market.

The partnership ensures that Elinor will be able to launch its own batteries for commercial sale in Europe within six months, manufactured at Morlus’ factory in China. The agreement also accelerates plans for the factory in Orkland, with an investment decision expected in 2025. “This partnership gives us the expertise we need to get started—just like when Norway began with oil,” says Lars Helge Helvig, owner of Valinor.
