ICON Systems: secured FEED study of Viewpoint Spidercage

  • Sector: Sea
  • Date: August 25, 2020

  • Company: ICON Systems is a complete supplier with special competence within automation, who follow projects from the beginning to the end.

ICON Systems has secured a contract with Moss Maritime for the participation in a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study of Spidercage, a fish farm designed for exposed locations in coastal waters. Nova Sea has previously been granted four development licenses for the realization of the concept Spider Cage, which may be ready in a couple of years with the production capacity of up to 3120 tons of fish.

The study has a total of 6000 working hours, and will provide technological maturity to the project and associated costs before Nova Sea takes the project into the next phase, which is the construction of the fish farm. The contract is a continuation of the close cooperation between ICON Systems and Viewpoint in 2015, when both companies had a common interest in the aquaculture industry, says Jarl Endre Pedersen, CEO of ICON Systems.

ICON Systems is tasked to plan and prepare an early design for the electrical engineering, instrument and control systems so that the fish farn Spidercage adopt optimal solutions. Central to our delivery is ICON Systems’ fully integrated control system for fish farms, SALMATIC ™, says Pedersen. Other participants in this study are Moss Maritime, which acts as the main contractor for the end customer Nova Sea, and Aqua Knowledge, which is resposible for the pens and nets, Pedersen concludes.
