Heimdall Power: launches virtual sensors

  • Sector: Infrastructure
  • Date: October 4, 2022

Heimdall Power are happy to announce their virtual sensors for Dynamic Line Rating (DLR), a new SaaS-solution for capacity monitoring and forecasting, which can be deployed both separately or in combination with physical neurons.

Virtual sensors provides a scalable monitoring concept that leverages our experience with hardware (Neuron)-monitoring, combined with data driven software models using advanced weather data, says Magnus Helgeby, Head of Software at Heimdall Power. The result is an all-in-one DLR solution that can model an entire network through the combination of Neurons and software, which enables the transmission of more electricity than a static maximum limit would indicate.

For the less critical parts of the grid, virtual sensors can ensure flexible operations at a friendly price point, but for the more constrained areas, we strongly recommend the deployment of Neurons, given their higher accuracy, explains Helgeby. This enables us to cover the whole power grid with the required accuracy at every location, concludes Helgeby.
