Valinor: Exit Investment in OpenHorizon

  • Sector: Infrastructure
  • Date: February 9, 2023

  • Company: Valinor is a Norwegian family-owned investment company that makes early-stage investments in cutting-edge companies to enable solutions for tomorrow.

Valinor and the other co-founders Rein-Owe Flister, Rune Bøe, and Magnus Fjetland established the security consulting company OpenHorizon in 2022. Valinor is now selling its position to new investors with increased knowledge and passion for the security profession.

The motivation behind Valinor’s investment in OpenHorizon was that Norwegian businesses are exposed to ever more complex threats. We wanted to participate in an initiative that could assist Norwegian small and medium-sized enterprises to better understand their modern threat landscape, says Anders Stokkenes Johansen, investment director at Valinor. The software Automated Intelligence Risk (AIR) has been completed, and the solution calculates risk for businesses, industries, and value chains, which provides companies with a focused threat picture based on the assets they manage. The software also recommends risk reducing measures across standards such as NIST and ISO.

Now that the software is ready for launch, the time is right for both parties to part ways, explains Johansen. We are very pleased with the return on our investment and we thank the other co-founders for good cooperation and wish the company good luck in its next phase, concludes Johansen.
