Norsk Solar: Gharo solar power plant in Pakistan is under construction

  • Sector: Energy
  • Date: October 6, 2019

  • Company: Norsk Renewables develops and invests in renewable energy in emerging markets.

The company has teamed up with Harappa Solar from Pakistan and Windforce from Sri Lanka to build a 50 MWp solar power plant in Pakistan called Gharo Solar.

Development is well under way with many local EPC contracts. The solar power plant will be the most advanced of its kind in Pakistan with solar modules that receive bifacial modules from two sides. These rotate with the sun (single-axis trackers) and are connected in several rows (string inverters).

The Dutch financial institution provides loan financing and the power is sold to a national electricity company on a 25-year contract.
