Solgrid: has finalized Varberg Norra solar power plant in Sweden

  • Sector: Energy
  • Date: October 4, 2021

  • Company: Solgrid is an energy company that develops, finances, builds and operates solar power plants in Nordic markets.

Solgrid has completed its first solar power plant with Verberg Norra, which with its double-sided panels will be the largest of its kind in Sweden.

In the solar park outside Varberg in southern Sweden, Solgrid has invested in next-generation solar cells that are especially suitable for Nordic conditions. The nearly 9,000 double-sided modules also produce electricity when sunlight hits the back, which provides increased power. The park has an installed capacity of 4.8 MWp.

Today’s high electricity prices clearly show that more new renewable energy production is needed in Sweden, says Kristin Melsnes, CEO of Solgrid. We are pleased that the construction of the solar power plant has gone according to plan. It is also exciting that among a number of international players who have shown interest in the Swedish solar energy market, we as a Norwegian company are the first to build in Sweden, Melsnes concludes.
