Zaptec: and Polestar Enter Strategic Partnership

  • Sector: Infrastructure
  • Date: June 4, 2024

  • Company: Zaptec is world-leading on smart charging systems for electric cars in housing co-operatives, businesses and at home.

Polestar and Zaptec have announced a commercial and technological partnership to provide advanced home charging solutions to European customers. Starting from June 4th, the Zaptec Go charging box will be available to Polestar customers in Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, with more European markets to follow. “The collaboration with Zaptec is a significant step in providing our customers in Europe with seamless and efficient home charging solutions,” says Lutz Stiegler, CTO at Polestar.

The partnership, however, extends far beyond current charging needs. It also includes a long-term strategic alliance focused on using electric vehicles as battery banks to feed power back to the grid, known as vehicle-to-grid (V2G). This technology has the potential to balance the power grid and offer EV owners the opportunity to earn extra money. “Together with Zaptec, we will continue to develop innovative charging technology to deliver features such as smart charging, bidirectional charging, and vehicle-to-grid to our customers in the future,” Stiegler adds.

Zaptec shares this forward-looking vision. “By entering this partnership, we are embarking on an incredibly exciting journey in Europe, especially with our vehicle-to-grid technology,” says Kurt Østrem, CEO at Zaptec. “Given Zaptec’s high standards for quality and safety, it is natural to collaborate with those who share and understand our values,” Østrem concludes.
