This is a game-changer that relieves both telecom networks and data centers, says Torben Fog, CIO at Spirii.
Zaptec and Spirii have developed PowerDelta, a new algorithm that makes electric vehicle charging more energy-efficient and cost-effective. “The PowerDelta algorithm significantly reduces the number of data transmissions. This is a game-changer that relieves both telecom networks and data centers,” says Torben Fog, CIO at Spirii.
PowerDelta ensures that charging stations do not need to report status every second, but only when there are changes in the power supply, which drastically cuts down on data traffic. In practice, this means that during an 8-hour charging session, the number of updates can be reduced from over 30,000 to just around 100. “Less data volume also means lower data processing costs, which is good news for charging operators,” explains Fog.
The collaboration between Zaptec and Spirii demonstrates a commitment to innovation and efficiency. “The demand for scalable and efficient charging infrastructure is more pressing than ever. The PowerDelta algorithm offers an important solution to this challenge,” concludes Knut Braut, Technical Director at Zaptec.
