The smart plug Zaptec APM (Automatic Power Management) allows owners of the home charger Zaptec Go to retrieve information about the power consumption in the house.
Zaptec APM reports real-time AMS measurement values to Zaptec’s cloud services, where advanced algorithms control the charging stations. The charging adjusts automatically according to the consumption of the house and allocates more electricity for charging up the car when the house uses less – and vice versa. By combining smart charging stations and AMS measuring values with advanced cloud services, Zaptec makes it possible to charge the electric car faster and cheaper, said Knut Braut, technology director at Zaptec.
Zaptec APM allows you to install a more powerful charging rate since the charging station only delivers more current when it is actually available. This means you can charge the car as quickly as possible without risking that the main fuse blows, explained Braut. There are several factors that have an impact on charging speed, but in the right conditions you can achieve charging that is 2–6 times faster than using traditional charging stations, Braut concluded.
