FishGLOBE: the second successful delivery of post-smolt

  • Sector: Sea
  • Date: October 22, 2020

  • Company: FishGLOBE works on closed-system aquaculture technology that is developed to make the salmon industry more profitable, more sustainable, and with better fish welfare.

FishGLOBE started delivering fish on Wednesday afternoon and ended on Thursday morning. 280 000 fish were gently and optimally delivered in two rounds of ca. 140 000 fish in each round including a four hour freshwater treatment in the wellboat Ronja Polaris. The delivery of post-smolt went very well. There were no technical problems with the wellboat, so it was a great day, says Tor Hellestøl, CEO at FishGLOBE.

During the delivery, ICON Systems was also present to provide support, as the company is responsible for the technical equipment on board the globe and ensures that everything works optimally at all times. FishGLOBE has become an important customer for ICON Systems, says Torkjel Ravndal, Operations Manager at ICON Systems. The projects have a great degree of innovation and together we are helping to bring the aquaculture industry into a more sustainable future, Ravndal concludes.

On Saturday 24 October, the globe will be raised on a barge to be stationed in Forsand for washing and disinfection. ICON Systems is responsible for shutting down the globe and disconnecting it from the land base, as well as preparing the globe for lifting. During late November, the globe will be transported to Grieg Seafood at Kilaneset in Erfjord.
