Norsk Vind: advocates to pay more in taxes

  • Sector: Energy
  • Date: July 5, 2019

  • Company: Norsk Vind is Norway's largest private wind power company, that contributes to the electrification of industry, household, and transport.

Norsk Vind is Norway’s largest private wind power developer. The Stavanger-based company, achieved a profit of NOK 300 million in 2018. Norsk Vind now believes that the time has come to change tax rules and framework conditions, so that an increased share of the values from the wind power development falls to the municipalities.

Previously, wind power development was a business that was financed dependent on subsidies. We are now realizing the projects we have developed over the past 20 years, and we see that future projects can be realized without subsidies, says Lars Helge Helvig, Chairman of the Board of Norsk Vind.

Lars Helge advocates that a larger proportion of the funds should fall to the local communities now that the development has become sustainable also financially.
